Attention – it is not recommended to use these angled fittings together. We highly recommend using a Straight Fitting on one end, with an adapter to make the desired installation, and the angled fitting on the other end. This is to make installation of the hose easier.

The numbers on hydraulic fittings refer to the size and type of the fittings. They can indicate the fitting's thread size, pitch, and compatibility with other components. This information was sourced from "Hydraulic Hose Fittings Guide: How to Find the Right One" on the Hydraulics Direct website (https://www.hydraulicsdirect.com/Unde...), specifically under the sections "Understanding the Numbers" and "Choosing the Right Fitting".

The standard for hydraulic fittings is typically governed by organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Common standards include ISO 8434 for metallic tube connections and SAE J516 for hydraulic hose fittings, which ensure compatibility, reliability, and safety in hydraulic systems.

To determine the JIC fitting size, measure the outside diameter (OD) of the male thread or the inside diameter (ID) of the female thread using calipers. Then, match these measurements to a JIC size chart to identify the corresponding fitting size.

A JIC (Joint Industry Council) female fitting is a type of hydraulic fitting characterized by its 37-degree flare seating surface. It is designed to create a metal-to-metal seal when connected with a corresponding JIC male fitting, ensuring a secure, leak-proof connection commonly used in high-pressure hydraulic applications.

To identify JIC fittings, first measure the outer diameter of the male thread or the inner diameter of the female thread using a caliper. Then, compare these measurements to a JIC thread size chart to determine the correct size, ensuring the fitting has a 37-degree flare angle, characteristic of JIC fittings.

To identify hydraulic hose fittings, check for specific markings or labels on the fitting itself, such as thread size, type, and manufacturer codes. Additionally, you can use calipers to measure the thread diameter and pitch, and refer to fitting identification charts or guides to match these measurements with the correct fitting type.

JIC (Joint Industry Council) fittings should be tightened to a point where they form a metal-to-metal seal without over-torquing, which could damage the fitting or cause leaks. Generally, hand-tighten the fitting, then use a wrench to further tighten it by approximately one to one and a half flats (hex sides) beyond hand-tight. Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for precise torque values.

Sure! Joint Industry Council (JIC) fittings work by utilizing a 37-degree flare seating surface to create a metal-to-metal seal, ensuring a secure and leak-proof connection in hydraulic systems. The male and female parts of the fitting are tightened together, causing the flared ends to compress and form a tight seal.

The nominal thread size of the jic swivel hose fitting is 3/4"-16. This thread size ensures a secure fit and tight seal, which is essential for preventing leaks in high-pressure environments.
